Lesion in poly nasal cavity

I have been having minor blackouts in vision (they only last a second or so, like a long blink) and have had vertigo for about 6 months. I also have had migrane with auras for about 10 years. They recently did an MRI and said that they found a lesion in the poly nasal cavity, and they are going to do a ct scan to get a better look at it. I'm not sure what a poly nasal cavity is, and what it means to have a lesion in it. I had a cat scan several years ago and there was no sign of a lesion then. Any help would be most appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi,

The turbinates are bony and mucosal foldings of the lateral nasal wall. The middle turbinate is the most important because of its proximity to the maxillary sinus.
Your report indicates a polyp in the middle turbinate which has causes the nasal septum to deviate.
DNS obstructs the nasal passages and causes difficulty in breathing. It is possible that the lack of oxygen can cause blackouts.
The treatment is mostly medical management at first with steroid sprays, decongestants and antibiotics. If the symptoms are persistent corrective surgery is usually done. Surgical complications are very rare.

Hi, and thank you for responding! The results that I receieved today say that there is a "polypoid lesion in the right middle turbinate causing left nasal septal deviation." Is this serious, or something that I shouldn't worry about? Could it be the cause of the blackouts, or is it just a coincidence?

Thanks again!

Hi,

How are you?
It is possible that they have found multiple lesions in the nasal cavity or paranasal sinuses. Poly usually means more than one. Lesions in these parts can be in the form of a polyps, cysts, mucoceles, and neoplastic lesions like cancer.
A CT scan will help in diagnosing the exact nature of these lesions.
