Lots of Migraines and Headaches...

by Lindz5286, Dec 28, 2007 09:39PM
I started getting migraines at 17. Since then, they have gotten more and more frequent. Within the past year they have become more painful and happen on a daily basis. Last nov. I ended up in the hospital, I suddenly started to get dizzy, couldnt feel my limbs and face, slurred my speech, had blurred vision, and couldnt even walk. It was as if I had drank a ton of alcohol to the point of where u have to crawl to move around. It lasted 3 weeks. They have had me on all types of meds imagineable since then to manage the headaches and migraines. They have done MRI's but they say it comes back normal. about a month ago I got a headache, I took some medicine, but it wouldnt go away, I had it all day long, finally at bedtime it became slightly bearable and I was able to go to sleep. When I woke up it was back to being comepletely debilitating. I couldnt do anything. And this happened for 3 weeks till I went back to my doc. They put me on other meds, but now it seems as no meds completely work. I always feel some slight pain. Nothing is helping. I told my doc alot of times the headaches feel like they are on the top of my head but really deep as if in the center of my brain. He order an MRI and today he said there were some "changes and differences" in my brain but that it "could be just becuz of the migraines" what bothered me was the "could be" and then I read something today and it was an article on migraines and it said that migraines and headaches will not show any "change" on a MRI and that the MRI would be normal. So which is it? Do migraines show up on MRIs? And has anyone experienced anything like this? Or can anyone give me any info of what this may sound like? HELP:)

Hi,
What is your age now? What medications have you been prescribed for the attacks as yet?
Do you notice any stimuli like strong light , loud music, or any stress which increases or causes the headaches? Have you ever noticed any associated symptoms involving the ear or vision such as ear infection or vision problems?
Have you got your blood pressur and blood sugar levels checked?
Have you ever been to a neurologist or a specialist?
I am sorry for this long list of questions, but this is important.
Migraines are usually a clinical diagnosis. The MRI in cass of migraine is usually normal but could show some white mattercages in a few cases.
Have you noticed any neck stiffness or fever? Have you had any seizure episodes?
It would be best to get a neurologist consultation and see what he has to say after a clinical evaluation. It is also important that you get a copy of the MRI report for yourself.
Has an EEG or lmbar puncture been advised - it would be advisable to discuss these with your neurologist. And if you have been to a neurolgist then were neuralgias ruled out as a cause?
Do get back and let us know about yor progress.
Hope this helps.
Good luck.
