I would suggest you to take your migraine meds as soon as you get the sign of headache or aura and do not wait for the attack to get fully blown to take the migraine med.

Dr Noopur, thank you too, I am glad to hear a patch is at least in development. I don't know why one isn't made with just aspirin or NSAID's, etc that can be sold non-prescription.
My migraines always begin while sleeping and I wake up with the pain strong enough that often I can't eat or drink at that point without vomiting. It will come no matter what so maybe I should just take some pain relief then and hope at least some gets in the bloodstream first. I should probably check the weather forcast daily and start taking meds 3 or 4 days before a change is due.

Kinda hard to take the usual advice of "take during the onset of your migraine" when you are unaware you are getting one, huh?
