Migraine With White Spots In Vision
Hey,
Last night I woke up with a massive migraine. I have suffered migraines and headaches for years, since I had a blow to the skull when I was 4, which has been investigated and tested etc.
The migraines stopped and calmed down over the years.
But last night I had a major headache and when I went to the toilet, I had several white spots when I moved my eyes, and they dissappeared straight away, until I moved my eyes again then it happened again. Pain killers wouldn't work but it died away after a number of hours.
Please help.

I suffer from Classic Migraines which causes many difficulties. I see white spots, blind spots(temporary vision loss), & zigzag lines. I lose my speech and ability to understand what people say to me. I have also lost feeling in my face, hands, and legs before. I've been rushed to the ER more than once because my symptoms were identical to a stroke.
For me it takes days after a migraine to start feeling like myself again. I sleep two or three days straight, followed by a feeling of weakness & dizziness, accompanied by smaller pressure headaches. You asked if your symptoms were out of the ordinary. I would have to say no. But you should ask your doctor what type of mirgraine suffer you are. Then research it for a better understanding. It's not as scary when your better informed.
FYI - I haven't had a migraine since I stopped using Splenda. That was almost a year ago.

How are you? Cluster headaches are also primary headaches like migraine but presents with excruciating pain in the vicinity of eye. It is also possible that a combination of these primary headaches occur. If it still persists, and your medications do not help, have this evaluated by your doctor for proper management. A referral to your eye doctor may also help rule out eye problems. Take care and do keep us posted.

I was searching for an answer to my extreme constant migraine headaches. Two days ago, on Friday the 30th, I had that oncoming feeling of a migraine headache approaching, followed by this weird phenomenon of white spots. Now I have had this before, but the white spots were so severe, that it blurred my vision for several hours after they had disappeared. This is not normal in my book..
It is three days later now (the 2nd) and I still have my headache. It's in the upper right side of my head, above the temple, a typical place for a migraine headache it seems, and I'm still experiencing sensitivity to light and sound. My vision isn't blurred as much, but I still feel a lot of pressure in the upper back of my eyes.
Does anyone know if this is out of the ordinary or not? I've also been unable to eat without feeling sick soon after. I'm also pretty young, 18 year old girl, and this has been happening to me since the 6th grade (so when I was 12)

I am a 19 year old female and I have been having headaches, well one headache that wont go away, for six days now. When i close my eyes i see white spots that are very bright. My neck and lower back are also having intense pain. i am getting sick, and feeling sick all the time. I am able to work and do normal activities, but barely! I am very worried, but i do not have health insurance, does anyone have any advice?? Also, pain meds, and migrane meds are not working..??
I get migraines at least once a month. But since I lost my job about a month ago I have been having constant headaches and my vision crosses and I see blue spots also. This is just different than normal and I am kinda concerned. Has anyone else had this problem before and I am tired more than normal.

I just searched this specific stream because recently while sitting at work or in an elevater or even at home... there is a specific quick white flash in my vision in the extream left corner of the left eye... always makes me look that way as if some light got reflected off that wall in the corner of my vision.... but its happened atleast 6 times since yesterdays... hasnt ever happened before and i dont have any headaches ever... maybe its because im sleeping less lately and streatching myself a bit too much physically with sports, drinking and partying.
Please advise if its just sleep related or is it something more serious?

That would be a too much high dose of pain killer medications. Plus the attending risk of causing gastri ulcers and reflux symptoms with these pain relief medications always exists.
Are you sure he/she said that - at the same time? And did he say to take it daily?
Well i think you need to reconsult with him and clarify this out.
Or you could take one pill and see if your pain is any better and whether you need to take any more medication.
Even then you need to understand that this should be taken only after meals and never on an empty stomach.
Do clarify this out before going ahead with the medication.
Do let us know about your progress.

My doctor told me to take two paracetomal and two ibprohen tablets at the same time? Is that okay?
Next time you see white spots when you move your eyes, look above your eyes and see if the area above your eyelids is puffy. Inflammation of the muscles around the eyes can cause those spots. I get these all the time, did research and went to one of the best nuero-opthamologists in the US.
But that fact that you have unqual or asymmetric pupil size, white spots and your eyes vibrate are important symptoms. I have the same symptoms with recurrent severe headache that I know is not a normal migraine. (I have had those for years.) The closest I've come to diagnosis of that headache is some issue with cerebral spinal fluid - possibly not draining properly or an overproduction.
Just something to think about - but if you don't mind - I would be very interested in knowing what your doctor says - it may help me. I would greatly appreciate it.

The most common cause of asymmetric pupils is non pathological or normal variant seen in some individuals.
Other causes of asymmetrical pupils include - defective innervation of the iris sphincter muscle, Adie syndrome, iris sphincter lesion (trauma, iritis, and angle closure glaucoma), and third nerve palsy, an aneurysm of the posterior communicating artery, lesions affecting the dorsal midbrain.
I know some of it is confusing but this is just a list for your information. The basic thing that you need to understand is that you will need to be investigated further to rule out the pathological conditions and come to a definite diagnosis.

Apparantly my eyes are healthy, but I have one pupil bigger than the other, and my eyes don't stay still, the vibrate.
I'm being referred to the hospital for more tests now. They said it can be nerve damage or something??

That would be a good idea to get a clinical evaluation and eye examination done.
The anti anxiety medication, was only if the stress disturbing your sleep. Discuss all your symptoms with him in detail and ask him what possible diagnosis could it be according to him.

I am booking an appointment with my doctor this week, and going for a eye examination.
I am sleeping okay, more than usual due to the holidays.
Stress could be it, because I may be loosing my job and I have been worrying about this.

You should change the medication in consultation with a neurologist and also discuss with him whetehr any migraine preventing medication like topiramate would help in your case.
You should also get a re evaluation by an eye specialist about your vision and whether the glasses that you are using are appropriate or not.
Are you sleeping well.
If strees is a factor then you should try breathing exercises nad yoga. Also ask your doctor if antianxiety medication like alprazolam would help in your case.

Such white spots can sometimes occur with no abnormal underlying pathology.
Does your migraine get trigerred by certain factors like stress, loud noise or light?
Are you taking any medicines for your migraine regularly? Have you noticed any eyesight problems lately?
If the symptoms recur, you should consult your doctor for a clinical evalaution.
