Migraines and brisk reflexes?

Hi. I have been diagnosed with migraines without headache pain. What I'm wondering is if acephalgic migraines can cause brisk knee reflexes and severe intercostal muscle spasms bilaterally?

Your doctor will listen to you but do remember they are not specialist in Migraines and brisk therefore they may suggest a counselor but they will offer other advice as well. Every one of them has taken at least two months for the issues to resolve, some symptoms took six months or more to go away completely.

Hi,
Thanks for the updates. You have indeed been through a lot of diagnostic tests already.  And it is good that the results were fine. Migraine variants are usually less recognized and poorly understood. Complicated migraines are  less common than typical migraines. Affected individuals usually undergo unnecessary extensive diagnostic and laboratory evaluations before a diagnosis is made. Migraine variant is characterized by episodes of prolonged visual auras; atypical sensory, motor, or visual aura; dysarthria;  gastrointestinal manifestations; or other constitutional symptoms with or without a headache. It is important also that you maintain a headache journal. continue the prescribed medicines, and have regular follow-up with your attending physician. Take care always and do keep us posted.

Thank you for the reply. There are many other symptoms present. I've been through a thorough workup, EEG, ECG, MRI of brain and c-spine, VEP, spinal tap, nerve conduction of arms, many blood tests, and everything came back normal.

They did find subclinical hypothyroid and autoimmune thyroid disease - which is now normalized and antibodies in the normal range.

All the symptoms mimic MS, but no tests show that to be the case. So the consensus is complex migraines or adverse reactions to medications.

I was just wondering how likely it would be for a migraine to cause brisk knee reflexes. I can't seem to find any information on that at all. And on the left arm when the wrist extensors are hit with the hammer, my fingers jump. Is that normal?

There have recently been a couple of episodes of urge incontinence, a few days when my body did not signal me when it was time to urinate causing bladder distention (no pain or other sensation), about two month span of time when my bowels also did not signal when it was time during which I had to rely on over the counter products to keep things working, several weeks of sharp shooting pains in both legs and girlie parts, blurred vision intermittently in one eye or the other, sometimes both, and many other unexplained issues.

Because I have a history of bad headaches, the consensus seems to be migraines causing it all. It's confusing. I'd like to understand how migraines can do all of that even when there is no headache present.

At the moment, I'm doing well, having had the last bad episode in March which took a couple of months to subside. Thank you for asking. They seem to come on quickly, have different symptoms with each one, and there have been three of these episodes over the last nine months so far. Every one of them has taken at least two months for the issues to resolve, some symptoms took six months or more to go away completely. But eventually, everything does get back to normal.

Hi,
How are you?Are there other symptoms present? Is there history of trauma or injury? Muscle spasms usually occurs when a muscle involuntarily contracts  and it can lead to muscle cramps which may present with visible or palpable hardening of the involved muscle and a sudden severe pain. These can recur may be caused by straining of a muscle, dehydration, trauma, or even damage to nerves or to the spinal cord. If it persists, it is best that you have this checked by your doctor for proper evaluation and to rule out angina, which can be felt in the chest. Take care and do keep us posted.
