Hi there . I have just joined this forum and I did post my experience with migraines.. Please have a read ....
Here are 2 Headache Diaries that may help you identify the causes or triggers of your headaches (H/A):
1. http://www.webmd.com/migraines-headaches/guide/headache-diary (more detailed)
2. http://www.headaches.org/pdf/Headache_Diary.pdf
If you can find a trend, that will help. Often times with females, they can be related to hormones, but there are other triggers as well, like foods, things we drink (esp. things with caffeine), things we are exposed to, etc.
In addition, B0tox injections have been shown to decrease symptoms in severe cases; this would be administered by a doctor certified to give them (usually a Neurologist), and the goal is to prevent you from having more H/A's. But keeping a diary would be of great help to both you and the doctor. If it's not on the diary, enter your menstrual cycle as well.
Let us know if you have any questions.
I have had them last for months, different degrees of pain. Have you read the book "Heal your Headache" talks about triggers. Also, when I got in this cycle I would get a massage, acupuncture and go to chiropractor. This triple threat, with rest would usually knock it out. It addresses the muscles, nerves and bones and kind of resets everything. My neurologist used to give me long shots in my neck and head with a mix of lydicane and steroid. It was so nice cause it numbed my whole head, and when i "thawed out" my migraine was gone!!! ;) I no longer get migraines, cause mine where primarily caused by hormones, and I had to have a hysterectomy.
You're welcome. Feel better. Let us know if you need any additional help. :-)
Hi guys I don't really take any drug dad nothing seems to help I do normally go into bed with curtains shut as this is the only thing that helps , I have changed my diet all healthy but eating plenty just all good nutritious food would this have caused the flare up ? I will be making an appointment ASAP and will let you all know what happens, thank you for all your advice so fat it's such a great help x
The OP did not say she was taking triptans. Am I missing something? I agree taking triptans is not the way to go since it is not a preventative med.
@ Jennycevans,
Have you been changing you diet lately?
Going back to my original post, you need to be seen by a Neurologist, but while waiting to get in, see your PCP.
Try to rest in a dark quiet room when your symptoms are bad. If NSAIDS (e.g. motrin) sets off your asthma, try taking tylenol in moderation with some caffeine in MODERATION, although this may not help much. Let us know how you do.
You must stop taking any triptans at once, they are the main factor that causes migraneurs to get stuck in the never ending migraine cycles. Try to stop all other pain killers as well.
Then it is just relaxing, avoiding triggers and playing the waiting game. Be patient and calm.
Maybe you need the help of a good doctor to guide you out of this.
I agree that you need to see a physician especially neurologist but if you can't get into a neurologist right away see your PCP. However there are many medications available for migraine use. Topamax, although there are many warnings on the medication, is one of the primary preventative medications used for migraines. If a person is having that many migraines you want to prevent them rather then take medications often when you're actually having the migraine.
go see a nuroligist the can mri and other scans and perscribe meds
they found a gland dying and calcifying in my brain giving me migraines
i still have headaches every day mild medium bad then migraines
how bad depends on the day they got my migraine pretty well under control
dont take topamax to many problems
good luck
