My son has constant headaches

by carrolld, Nov 19, 2008 06:34PM
My son has constant headaches.   Very tight muscles in neck and through-out body.  He was treated with anti-inflamatories for 2 weeks and as soon as he stopped heaches resumed.   Is there something else causing headaches and tight muscles that doctors are missing?

Headache with muscle tightness may mean many things or may not mean much at all. The data you have provided is insufficient. Has he any other ailment? His age, the duration, frequency of headache, the site on the head, what brings it on (movies, reading..) accompaniments...

You have already seen a doctor. He must have evaluated your son and must have given the necessary advice. Can you share his conclusions with us?

Second thoughts; headache with tightness in the neck and throughout the body.

Does he find difficult to bend because of the tightness? Or when he lies down on his back, does his tummy arch up? Does his tummy feel taught? Can he open his mouth without any difficulty?

Best,

TA

My son is 13 years old.  He has always had tight muscles even as a baby.  He was always stife.   He wakes up with headaches every morning.  He says it is a shooting pain from his neck into is head.   If you feel the back of his neck when he has these headache.  His muscles in his neck feel like little balls.  He gets heachaches through out the day off and on.  Nothing particular brings them on.  It is very rare for him not to have a headache everyday.  He can open his mouth without difficulty.  He can not touch his toes but he can bend.   Currently, I am debating whether to have him put on a prescription medicine to help relax muscles in neck.  If that does not work they will consider injections into the muscle.  I can't help but to feel something is being missed.  Do you have any recommendations?

What I can say is only that he should be under the care of a neurologist who will be able to say what is wrong where and what to do about the same.

I will be interested in the neuro's comments.

Wish you the very best,

TA

I have had headaches for 9 yrs now, everyday! I have had MRI ... and been to many Doctor's.
My neck muscle's tighten up even just sitting or laying down. Feel's like my neck is broken.
I have 3 disc that are buldged but not causing any problem's the Doctor say's.
I am on muscle relaxer's- pain pill's- cymbalta-  and go to the Chiropractor but nothing really help's. It never goes away! It will lessen when i take my muscle relaxer's but if I do something around the house it flares up again.

I had to stop working, and now fighting for Disability. Which I will only get around $500.00 a month. How can I live on that. Just because I didnt work much when the kid's were little ( sorry that's another story ) but it suck's!
