Nerve Block Didn't Last

Nerve Block Didn't Last

The nerve blocks I had at the base of my skull 1 1/2 weeks ago have ceased working and now the pain has come back with a vengeance.  Is it possible that the block actually irritated the nerve and made it worse or is it just my imagination because I had a few days WITHOUT any pain?  Is it worth it if it's actually going to feel like it's hurting more when it stops working?

Hi,
How are you? Occipital nerve blocks are safe, relatively simple and temporary procedure. If a patient responds well, there are a variety of other more permanent pain-relieving procedures that can be performed. This includes cutting the nerve, decompressing the nerve,  damaging it with small doses of a toxin or with a radio-frequency energy probe and even the use of an occipital nerve stimulator. Discuss these options with your doctor and decide which is best for you. Take care and regards.

Thanks for that.  Did your doctor give you any indication of how many times you can have this done?  Really, this could probably go on forever cause who wants to have the pain come back?
