Never Suffered From Headaches Before

Hi i'm 27yrs old and am suffering with headaches. I Have never suffered from headaches before but for the last two weeks or so i have been suffering from a persitant headache. It started at the back with a tingling sensation and was mainly in the evening (starting a couple of hours before bed). For the last week or just over, they are throughout the day and at the front of my head (temples), i sometimes get a pressure across the bridge of my nose or a tighting of the jaw. I also now feel quite nautious with them all this is intermitant and does not last the whole day in fact it the sick feeling only last a few minutes usually although today i have had a constant sick/unwell feeling. I also feel continously tired and so started to take iron tablets but as yet they have had no effect (although it's only the 2nd day).

I had a baby three months ago and think i have adapted quite well into motherhood. I had an epidural, which a friend of mine blamed her headaches on but hers were initially after the birth, i don't see how mine could be related to the epidural, am i wrong? I had my eye sight tested (as suggested by my gp) and although i need glasses they do not think that my vision is related to the headaches. I do suffer from anxiety but have never taken any meds and have always been able to handle it on my own but because of this i feel that may be my anxiety will just be blamed and that the headaches won't actually be looked at.
I would be very grateful for any suggestions that you may have,

Hi,

I'm a 23yr old women and I've never sufferd from head aches but 2 weeks ago i was driving to work and had to pull over due to feeling unwell i got a numbness in my arms and went rigid my vision was blured and felt very disorientated, then i lost conciousness, when i came round i had pins and needles all over in my face arms tingly lips ect.. i then sufferd a panic attack something i've never experienced, i eventually got addmited to A&E where they did an ECG and blood tests which all came back fine, and later went home.
I am very concerned and have searched the internet for answers and have been told by one doctor i could be suffering from migrains ? i've never suffered with head aches and the pain i experienced whilst driving was very server.
Am i very confused as this is the first time ive ever sufferd these symptoms/head pain,  could it be the start of many migrains to come ? i work out, eat healthly ,i'm not stressed/depressed and i can acctually say i like my job so my lifestyle i feel is not a trigger.

Hi,

Your symptoms are quite suggestive of mild postpartum depression. It is seen frequently in women after childbirth anytime for upto a year after delivery.

Make sure you take good care f yourself, take your supplements regularly and also a diet rich in proteins and vitamins. Also exercise regularly. Most of these symptoms go away o their own. However I would still advise you to consult your OBGYN about it.
Do keep us posted!

Thank you for your reply. I'm actually getting 7/8 hours a night as my little girl sleeps through the night and has done from about 3 weeks so i'm not really deprived of any sleep. I don't have a runny nose or a postnasal drip. I'm not sure whats causing the headaches but i'm also very different from how i used to be in terms of my personality. I find that i get angry with my partner very quickly and i'm not as affectionate towards him as i used to be. I also find that i'm not as active around the home as i used to be. Is this all down to the changes from pregnancy?
Thank you for your advice

Hi,

Thanks for writing in.
There are quite a few possibilities here. Your headache could be because of stress, anxiety and sleep deprivation since you have a little baby to take care of. Make sure you get enough sleep during the day if your night sleep is frequently interrupted.
There is also a possibility that this headache is due to sinusitis. Do you have a runny nose or postnasal drip?
I would suggest you to take mild pain killers like Tylenol, make sure you eat on time, maintain your fluid intake and get sufficient amount of sleep. Also get your prescription glasses at your earliest. Hopefully your symptoms will resolve on their own, if they continue to worsen, please get yourself clinically examined.
