New to Tension Headaches

HI. Yesterday,  I had a check-up with my GP and he said that all of the pain in the back of my head, neck, and back are caused by tension headaches.  I usually suffer from sinus headaches but this is entirely new to me. I have been feeling soreness along with these new sets of headaches for over a week now.  How long are tension headaches supposed to last? And how bad can the pain range from?

Every morning I wake up with a sore neck, not stiff, and a tight pain sits in the back of my head/neck.  I do a couple of head warm-ups but it usally takes about an hour for it to go away.  Also,  I get this tingling sensation in the middle of my back. Does that have anything to do with the tension?

There is a possibility that you have minor neck issues also which can be a bulging disc. Neck problems can cause sore neck and headaches. I would suggest you to make sure that your neck is well supported while lying down. Maintain a good posture while sitting down or watching TV.
Tension headaches occur due to contraction of scalp muscles due to stress. Gentle head and neck massage will help in relieving this stress. Tension headaches usually last for few days but in some cases they become persistent and can be chronic tension headaches.
I would also suggest you to learn some self relaxation techniques like breathing exercises to reduce the tension and stress. Tension and anxiety can cause tingling sensations down the back.
