Pressure / discomfort area on back of head.

Hi my names Dan and Im 21 years old.  About a week ago I got a small headache which was located towards the back of my head. The headache has gone away mostly but I still have a very small area of pressure located in the back top right side of my head.  Right where your head starts to slope down.  Its not really even pain but just pressure or an odd feeling.  I have had it for a little over a week now and am wondering why it would be in one specific area for a few days now.  I have had anxiety in the past, around the age of 18. I stopped taking medication for it and haven't had any for a while now.  Right around the time of my headaches I started getting anxiety again and now Im very anxious/worried about something being very wrong with my head such as a brain tumor or something.

Hi,
Thanks for the update. Its good to hear that your physical examination with your doctor was normal. The pressure headache may be due to primary headache such as tension headache. This is associated with stress and may respond to rest, ice pack and pain medications. A headache journal may also help identify the possible triggers for the headache. In this way, you can identify and avoid such triggers. Take care always.

Thanks for the info Rowena,

Well I went to my family doctor and he said he didn't believe it was anything to serious after checking my eyes, reflexes, and heart rate.  He did put me on Meloxicam, an anti inflammatory because he thought it had to do with me looking down a lot from my new job.  I took them a few days and it didn't help much but eventually the pain went away about 3 days after I visited my doctor. I was fine for a few days until today I got a head ache again but it wasn't the same feeling in the back of my head.  It was more of a pressure or almost the feeling of fluid in my head.  My doctor did say something about mucus in my nose but I haven't been stuffed up and have no pain when tapping on forehead by sinuses.

Thanks for the post earlier

Hi Dan,
How are you? Pain at the back of head or neck that may intensify with movement is caused by inflammation of the blood vessels of the head or bony changes in the structures of the neck. Anti-inflammatory drugs and  muscle relaxants may help. Tumor headache is unlikely because it usually presents with pain that progressively worsens, vomiting, possible visual disturbances speech or personality changes; problems with equilibrium, gait, or coordination and even seizures. If the pain persists, you may need to have this checked by your doctor for proper evaluation. Take care and do keep us posted.
