Punched in left temple & left eye seeking help for treatment

I was punched while at work by a bad guy, I had my left eye retnia torn & was welded with surgery. There was no loc that I know of  but don't remember much after being struck. I have been seeing a neurologist he perscribed several drugs over the years & am doing physical thearpy 3X week as long as workers comp Ins approves it. I would like to see if there is anything else that can help as this occurred Oct 1998 & still get severe headaches on left side my head from temple area down side of neck into left shoulder area. Recently was unable to turn my neck left without severe pain. Headaches more frequent with weather change or after stressful call at work. PT seems to relieve for that day but by night gets tight again. My quality of life is getting worse as unable attend functions, feel depressed when fighting the pain  hope you might have some suggestions I'm 44 yr old male 6'3 235 pounds no other known heath issues???? Thank you  Joe

Hi Joe,
How are you? After head trauma, it is common to experience headache months or years after the incident. If your conditions worsens or does not respond well to physical therapy or medications,  complementary and alternative medicine like biofeedback therapy, self hypnosis and other forms of relaxation may help.  Talk to your doctor about this. Try to avoid stressful situations also. Take care and do keep us posted.

Hi Joe, I am currently building a web site on migraines. My wife has suffered for years with migraines. While preventives can help a great deal on migraines, you may have something out of line.

After all, it's been ten years since this happened. More, and more doctors are suggesting chiropractors for relief when they can't help their patients.

If you have not been to one,I would consider it. I don't know if workers comp will pay for this. It's not to expensive, and I know construction workers that swear by them.

I even know people that go to chiropractors instead of their regular doctors.

Think about this. When that guy hit you, it probably just didn't stop at your eye.Your whole head got whacked.

If drugs, and physical therapy didn't help I would consider an alternative. I received therapy on my arm one time, and all I did was sit,and shot the bull with the ones that were suppose to do it.They showed me what to do "at home".

These guys "chiropractors" not only help backs, but also headaches, and migraines. On the first visit they will let you know if anything about your neck or so forth needs worked on.

Ask around first. As with anyone you have some that stand out from the rest.
Good luck.
Wishing all a pain free day.
