Sure. Again, you've been very helpful. I cut and pasted your posting for when I might need the coiling on my aneurysm. Thanks.
Hi Sara,
I absolutely agree but the time it takes to cover all the bases is more then I can commit to many times. I wish I had software that would type my thoughts - it would be so much faster and thorough. Agree?
Your response to Mickey was very helpful, but don't you still think that he should see a doctor about all of his symptoms in case it could be something else? And shouldn't he notify the surgeon of his problems? If more patients did that, the surgeons might find a different way to do the surgery to avoid such potentially life time problems. Just thoughts.
I wish I could explain why but it appears that approximately three months after clipping surgery symptoms such as your appear. I also appeared in my wife during that time frame and I have communicated with numerous other survivors of such a surgery and they experienced similar symptoms in almost the same time period post surgery. Why metal implants in the brain cause such symptoms can easily be explained by physics concepts but it is unfortunate that this is as far as medical science can go to solve this issue. My wife is 18 years down this road so the best I can do is talk to her experience during that time.
It's quite likely that what you are experiencing now are migraines. It's difficult to know if your headaches will resolve however there are a few proactive steps you can take to help. Talk to a Neurologist to get help with medications such as Maxalt to help abort the pain. Try to isolate your triggers by writing a journal (such as the one this site provides), we were able to identify my wife's triggers which include exposure to electrical devices such a new types of lighting, printers and PC screens to name a few. The good news is that she is having some success with what is called EEG Neurofeedback. If you are working and are covered by disability insurance, I would strongly suggest that you ask your Doctor to schedule a Neuropsychology exam to determine whether you may have any cognitive issues that could impair your career. Without this exam it will be difficult to get covered for any long term work disability.
You did not say if you had a ruptured aneurysm which would have necessitated emergency surgery so this would lessen the possibility of a long term issue except for the headaches of course.
I had clipping done and is scheduled to have the other anuerysum removed by the Cather method is early October.
You should definitely contact your doctor about your symptoms. You can't rely on a website to diagnose what the problem is. Good luck.
What type of surgery did you have, clipping, coiling, stenting, or gluing? It help to know what type.
