Repeated Epidural Headache

Repeated Epidural Headache

I have a painful headache just like the one I had seven months ago after giving birth. I was diagnosed with an Epidural Headache, after numerous test to rule out everything else, I had a blood patch which cured my headache instantly.  The same exact pain has return, in the same location of my head. Could there still be a leak in my Dura?  No medication has worked.  I am scheduled for an MRI,MRV, and MRA at the end of this week. I can not function. Please help. Losing precious time with my four children. Kattygirl 10-06-08

Hi,

Thanks for writing in.
Yes it is very possible that your headaches are due to leaking from the dura since you have a history of epidural headaches.
You may need to undergo another blood patch treatment. However diagnosis can be made only by clinical exam. A direct CT guided blood patch usually gives very good results in recurrent epidural headaches.
Take care!
