Hi,
I may have written on your other post about ciprofloxacin. I'm sorry if it has taken so long to get back to you. As far as I know, sinusitis can be acute or chronic ( long-term- more than 8 weeks). Allergies, deviated septum, polyp, and problems with the cilia located in the sinuses are commonly responsible for this condition. In chronic or recurrent sinusitis, additional tests such as allergy testing, nasal cytology, sweat chloride (cystic fibrosis) and blood  tests for poor immune function are done. Chronic sinusitis should be treated for 3 - 4 weeks including special medicines to treat fungal infections. I could not help you with the doctors in Spokane but I recommend that you ask for a referral or just check with a local hospital.  A second opinion may indeed be helpful.  If you are having recurrent attacks, you should be checked for underlying causes as well, such as nasal polyps or allergies. The Ct scan results should be explained by your attending doctor because he is in the right position to do so..Take care always.

I ended up having a CT Scan on my sinus.  I would like to run some things by you.  The CT revealed that I have a sinuitis.  I have complained for nearly a year about my headaches, worse when lying down, sinus dripping so bad at night that I would wake to clear my throat.  Complained about having problems swallowing.  I believe this has been smoltering for a long long time.  I have complained of chills, feeling like I am always coming down with something.  Im a little concerned also because I was perscriped Cipro for treatment, and what I have read not recommeded at all for a sinus infeaction.  I saw the CT Scan and looked things up on line. You know how it says the black is good, indicates air, well the black on my right sinus was totally gone, completely gray.  I am worried because I just finished a round of the same medicine for a UT about 2 months ago. Will it work for this and as well since I just was on it. Also, do you know any good doctors in Spokane, Washington.  Just curious, I know not likely.  Thinking it may be time for a second opionion.  I do cherish my brain.

Is anybody familiar with reading cat scan of the sinus.  They gave me a disk but not the report, as it goes to doctor first,  However I compared mine to normal and not normal online.  I would say my is definetly not normal.  16 days of head pain.  One sinus is still mostly black, and what I read this is good show air.  The other side has no black left in the sinus, and is all gray with 2 distince images like a bean gray they are where the black should be.  Also problems keeping sugar up.  Dropped in the high 50's.

sadyboo,

Have you looked into differentiating between work and play migraines.  By this I mean, are the migraines more likely to occur while at or just after work, and do you also get them while you are vacationing and away from home in an electronic free area.  Your answer could be helpful.

Thank you so much for yor support.  I do get very insucure regarding medical.  My doctor is not likely to do another CT scan as he feels he has covered that previously.  Sometimes I think he thinks I have control over this.  I think he is off base.  I work hard full time, very active with my family, and rise early and live a very full day.  He contributes it to stress and drpession i belive, but you know I don't feel stressed, and I love life, hate sleeping, and wish I could play everyday.  I never say no to doing things with my family.  We camp, fish, play games in the summer, and in the winter, we have get togethers, laugh, play board games, and just have a good life.  Does this sound like a depressed person to you.  I keep telling him my life is to full to be depressed, and I love life.  The only time I don't is when this happens. I do know my doctor is one of the best, but I am beginning to think, we have one of those cases like this.  Have you ever met somene and they just bug you.  They never have done anything wrong they just rub you wrong.  I beginning to think that is what I do to my doctor.  I may have to move on.  He has been our family doctor for years.  I do respect him as a Doctor and his skills, but if he has formed a opinion of me that may not be accurate and refuses to look beyon this then it may not be best for me to continue with the relationship. Doctors are human to and maybe he just can't.  I totally get it.  Have you ever had a patient that was hard to mesh with.

Hi,
Aside from infection, brittle nails can be due to  genetic predisposition, aging, dry air and extreme dryness of the nail, and even prolonged shower or bath. Other signs and symptoms of brittle nails include: peeling at the nail tips, easy breaking and inability to grow the nails out. Try to limit the amount of soap they use and the length of time their hands are exposed to water. Try also to have blood tests done to rule out hypothyroidism. Biofeedback is a treatment technique in which people are trained to improve their health by using signals from their own bodies. It may be used with instruments  that help in changing your thoughts, emotions, and behavior. Talk to your doctor about this and discuss if a CT scan, part of headache protocol is warranted with your symptoms right now. Take care and do keep us posted.

Sorry to learn of your migraines.  I watch my wife suffer from these long (3day) bouts of pure head pain.  I get them occassionally (as a child I got them very frequently but I seemed to "outgrow" them, and then they returned a couple years ago but not as severe.

Maxalt Mlt (melt) 10mg works sometimes for my wife.

You might want to  also consider evaluating dietary and environmental issues that could be contributing.  For example, can weather changes be causing them, flourescent lighting, etc, also look in to blood pressure as a cause.   Good luck.

I have had a CT scan 2 years or so ago.  They have never done one with contrast, could this be more effecient.  Also I have never had a headache last this long with the intensity behind it. I am really igornant to how biofeedback works.  I know that there is lots of new medicine regarding headaches.  I don't don't think my nails have a fungal as they really are just dry and brittle.  I never have had artificial nails either.

Hi,
The Robaxin targets only the muscle ache and may indeed not help with the headache if it is caused by other factors. Inform your doctor about this so that you can try a more powerful medication for your headache. What tests were done already? A CT scan is usually indicated for headaches to rule out organic causes. You can also try biofeedback therapy which works well to some headache sufferers. headache may also help you avoid recurrences.  Determination of the possible triggers of your The bad finger nails may be due to a fungal infection while the hair loss could be attributed to another cause. Take care and do keep us posted.

Thank you for your help.  So far the Robxin did nothing for my headache but the muscle ache I had on the left side of my back for three weeks is gone.  One small blessing.  I am at my 4th day of this headache, and put another call into my doctor this morning.  The Robxin did nothing.  If I take a hydrocodone 7.5 it does ok but only for about 1.5 to 2 hours, and then it comes back with a fight.  So that is not working either.  I know that the headache are worse when I lay down.  When I researced it on line I came up with just a confusing medical answers.  So many things can cause the same symtom.  One thing I read was the fluid around the brain if not working right can cause this.  Bad fingernails and hair loss are one of the symtoms which I have had for some time along with headaches.  Is this common.  I really am just lost in pain

Hi,
How are you? Robaxin or methocarbmol is used to relax muscles and to decrease muscle pain and spasms. Take this as prescribed to prevent occurrence of side effects such as stomach upset, nausea, flushing, constipation, headache, blurred vision, lightheadedness, dizziness or drowsiness. It may work for some patients but may not work for others with different underlying cause. Take care and do keep us posted.
