SCARED I HAVE A BRAIN TUMOR!!

hi i have been having daily headaches for the past 3 weeks and half, and im really scared its brain tumor :( i suffer from EXTREME anxiety, and im like freaking out. i try to stay calm, but its so hard not to think about how i might have one :( my doc has given me 2 types of pain killers, and none worked. i have a ct scan tomorrow morning, and an eye test just in case (even though i wear glasses) because i have had bad astigmitism. i wake up with one, and goto bed with one. its there 24 hours a day, and im so tired of it :( the pain stays in the front of my head, moves from one temple, to the right. my scalp is pretty senstive for the most part. my neck and back are SOO tense! and im in need of a serious massage. I really hope and pray my headahces are because of this tension. I also have heard of rebound headaches when taking too much medication for headache relief. i think i have this too because i have taken medication everyday just to dull the pain slightly cause its so annoying. im really scared i have a brain tumor, but my doc is sure i dont, she just wants me to do a ct scan to make me feel better. can anyone give me some advice? if you have ever experienced this, and what you think it could be? :( thankss

I could have written the start of this thread.  I do have a MRI set this evening, basically for my ENT to prove me wrong.  But I have had headaches daily with no relief except when I sleep.  Sometimes nasuea.  I just had a CT of only my sinuses because I thought they were sinus headaches, but when my ENT said it was not or allergies.  I lost it and begged for a MRI that he was going to do on my request in the first place but talked me out of it.  It can be migraines, I hope it is as I posted on the thyroid board, it's my last hope!  I hope to know something tomorrow.

my mom had a brain tumor growing in her head for years and ahe didnt even know it she would have mgraine headaches all the time and just thought it was from her sinus but ger dr sent her to gave an mri and sure enough it was a tumor and her headache was the only side affect so tumors can cause headaches.

Everytime I go to the doctor because of a headache he just tells me to take my Xanax. LoL he doesn't take me seriously since this has been happening for years. Even after I got a brain scan and it came out negative.

You see, if you keep worrying and drive yourself crazy then the symptoms of a brain tumor will come. You can thank your nervous system for that.

If you really want a CAT scan then that's up to you. Whatever you feel comfortable with. But let me tell you, I had a CAT scan when I was 17 because of my brain tumor fear and I went through a week of stress waiting for the results. I even slept most of those days so the week will go by faster. Then I get a call from my doctor and he told me I worried for nothing. That felt good to hear even though I started worrying a month later.

*shakes head* My stepfather died from a brain tumor and it scared the whole family. I started thinking that I also had a tumor and I'm still scared that I still have one. I can keep my emotions under control though. Right now, I think I have one behind the ear because of a small ear infection. :-p

I know that it feels like something horrible is living in your head but brain tumours rarely cause pain (we have limited sensory sensors within our brain tissue).  Also, brian tumours are far more likely to cause significant neurological symptoms such as loss of speech, massive sensory or motor paralysis.
When something hurts like this, it is inevitable that we come to the worst possible conclusion, that we have a tumour, but the trouble is that it becomes cyclical, we have pain, we panic, we have more pain and so it goes on.
As someone who has gone through exactly what you are going through, trust me, unless you have other significant symptoms, it isn't a tumour.  It is (as doctors love to say in that slightly tired fashion) just a headache, a horrible one, but still only a headache.

try not to worry.  there are many reasons for headaches besides tumors.  have you tried breathing exercises.  These have cut my migraines down substantially. A site that explains it well is http://www.abc-of-yoga.com/pranayama.

Good luck!
