Severe Vascular Headaches

I have suffered with severe vascular headaches for almost 4 months now and swelling behind right eye.  When I get these headahce the vein in my right temple swells up and pounds like a bomb is getting ready to explode.  I have had a CT scan, Spinal Tap and an MRI. CT scan normal, Spinal fluids normal and the MRI showed a chronic case of sinusitis but no major problems.  I have tried Topax and CAN NOT take, it knocks me out of this world.  Loratab helps but it takes 3 to even make it bearable.  They have me on Axert now and it barely helps...can not take more than 2 doses in 24 hours.  My neurologists is not willing to give me anything to help me with these headaches because of the chance of addiction.
The neurologist told me to see a E,N,T doctor because the results of the MRI and then we would go from there.
This stupid headache is 24 / 7 and I am at my wits end.  I can not handle this any longer.  PLEASE someone tell me what else can I do?  I have attempted everything I know to do and NOTHING helps.  The headaches are interfering with every part of my life....especially my job.
All I want is to get to the root cause of these headaches and find a prevention medication (if there is one) or something that will help me live without the constant pain I am in from these stupid headaches.
PLEASE HELP ME....................AngieGirl706

Everytime I read something from you I can relate so much!!  I was told the same thing you were.  I can take the topamax though.  I also have gotten the Spinal tap and the results were normal.  The severe vascular headaches still come, even with the Topamax, just not everyday.  They used to..constantly!  The pain was terrible, I would cry (which would make it 100 times worse)...anyway, I also went to an eye Dr and they told me that there were no margins being seen behind my eyes (whatever that meant either) My Dr was very concerned about that...that was when they gave me the Spinal Tap, but like I said, the results were normal.  I stess that I have tried so much, shots at the emergency room...you name it, but the only thing that has seemed to work for me is the Relpax...FOR ME!  It is similar to Imitrex??  But that DID NOTHING FOR ME!!!!  This take the headache behind my eyes away!!!  Sometimes I need two, but it takes it away.  You need a script for it and I would ask the Dr and see what he says before he sends you to an ENT.  Tell him about what they found on me and what I have taken and that it worked...maybe and hopefully he will give it a try and it will work for you. I hope if you do get the chance to get it and try it it will work for you like it has worked for me.  I still get my headaches, but I have found out that I have a cyst on my ovary, so they come more often, but the Relpax still helps.  You know that migraines are also a sign of a possible ovarian cyst?  I didn't, but now I do...just a thought.  Good Luck and I will be thinking of you.  I feel your pain!

I can fell your pain.  I too suffer from debilitating migraines.  I am never without pain despite being on pain meds, topamax, sleeping drugs, and many other drugs for the numerous other concerns that come with the terrible headache pain.  My headache is always behind my left eye.  I too have seen an ENT and have some blockages in my nose that will be corrected surgically but they aren't sure that will even help the headaches.  The pain meds make the pain some what manageable but I can not function normally.  We have also discovered so back and shoulder issues.  My MRI was normal as was my spinal tap.  My CT scan showed the nasal issues and the shoulder/back issues.  The key is to have a primary care doctor that will fight for you.  I have that now after a long five year battle and I am so thankful.  She talks to my neurologist and fights for me.  She doesn't want me to be in pain and suffer needlessly.  I hope that you find a solution and I will pray for you.  It helps to talk to others and let your family and friends help you.  Good luck.
