So I want to get to the bottom of why my head throbs and stabs when I move. I can't see a doctor again right now because I can't even afford to get there from where I live and I've already been multiple times. I'd appreciate any tips other that "visit your local gp" because the doctors prescribe me the same painkillers all the time and it doesn't help me get better, it just temporarily numbs it.
Anyway, to the point. For at least the past year I've been occasionally getting stabbing pains in my head (mostly above my left eye but further towards my ear) It would only happen occasionally, say a couple times a week - I thought nothing much of it, maybe just stress but then this past week has been worse than ever - everyday it happens even whilst sleeping. It is extremely irritating. It's not consistent, it just jabs at my temples or above them, much like 'ice pick headaches'. It throbs for a split few seconds, sometimes longer and it can linger for up to 5 minutes sometimes.
A bit more different than the pains previous because now its effecting more of my head and I even have to sit down quickly when it happens, sometimes pressing my hands against my temples because it's so bad.
These are some things that I questioned that may be the cause to my head issues;
1) Am I standing up too quick? No, I take my time to stand seeing as these pains are so extreme
2) Is my blood pressure alright? I used to take my blood pressure regularly quite some years ago because it would be slightly high occasionally and I always kept an eye on it. The doctors also check my blood pressure and never say there's anything wrong.
3) Are my eyes strained or do I need glasses? I have only been prescribed glasses for 'night blindness' and I do work from a PC but my eyes don't particularly hurt when I look at the screen, only really when I move or talk.
4) Am I drinking enough water? Yes, I drink a lot of water during the day and if I feel sick then I drink more. I know how important it is to stay hydrated.
5) Maybe it's just a migraine? Possible, but can it last this long?
I know it's hard to determine what's really wrong without going to a GP, but with most of my experiences the doctor only really sends me away with the same prescription every time and tells me I'll recover and gives me the most minimal explanation, then my issues always come back.
I'd also like to think that I'm not just overreacting...
Thank you in advance for any positive answers - even just some reassurance would make me feel somewhat better.
