Sharp shooting pains

I've been having sharp shooting pains on the back of my head for the past couple weeks that make it impossible to function without a handful of ibuprofen every couple hours. It gets worse at night and it's difficult to sleep. The pain spot is tender to the touch when I'm having the headache and the weird thing is the spot actually travelled from the top right side of my head to the back. Are these migraines? Do I need to go in and see a doctor?
