Sinus headache, Brain tumor or something else?

about 6 or 7 days ago I had a Ocular Migraine I had vision problems such as flashing lights and floaters, my eyes were sensitive to lights and sun that lasted for about 15 20 minutes then a bad headache on my left side of my head behind my eye and the forehead area for about 20 to 30 minutes. which made me nausea's and throw up once.. during the week I have had little headaches here and there nothing as bad as the one I had. today I have a bad ear ache my ear is draining and my head hurts badly(not as bad as the first one either) and my eye is feeling like it is draining all on the right side this time, my left is fine. no pain at all. I'm worried it's a brain tumor but to me seems more like stress and a sinus infection.

Hi and welcome to the Migraines & Headaches Community.

I get sooo many people that come here thinking they have a brain tumor when they fact is, you are experiencing TYPICAL migraine symptoms so, stop worrying about tumors cause worry/stress brings on and aggravates migraines so, you are not helping yourself at all by worrying.

Sounds to me like you might be experiencing sinuses and a migraine...which can and does happen all the time...having more than one issue at a time. The drainage is not a migraine symptom and sounds like sinuses. Everything else sounds migraine-ish. And having both at the same time is pretty miserable.

So, you need to treat both. Get something you can take for sinuses...I do not have that problem so, I cannot suggest anything. However the following is a list of tips you can try for your migraine.

1. There are several symptoms of migraines and what causes the pain of a migraine is the blood vessels in your brain become dilated. So, sometimes it helps it you put a bit of pressure on your head. I am sure you have already been doing this unconsciously with your hands from time to time. So, get a bandanna or a cloth headband and wrap it snugly around your head.
2. If you rub Mentholatum across your forehead and on your temples that helps relax those tense muscles. You can do this with or without the wrap, depending on if you like the heat or not.
3. Try either a cold or hot pack, whichever is more comfy to you.
4. The best OTC meds that I have found that works is Excedrin. It is a combo of Aspirin, Tylenol and Caffeine and that happens to be an excellent combo for migraines.
5. I mentioned caffeine before...well, drink coffee, Mt Dew, take Vivirin...sometimes a mega dose of caffeine will stop it in its tracks.
6. If you get nauseous or dizzy get some Meclizine from the pharmacy (the stuff behind the counter) you can take 25mg three times a day as needed. Yes it works on both.

Remember, you want to treat both so, find something for sinuses too and if things are to advanced it may require a doctor's visit. Good luck and keep us posted.
