Sinus headaches due to radiation to head

hi all
yrs. ago i had extensive radiadtion treatments to treat a nosopharyngeal cancer.
the cancer was succesffully treated, but my sinus have changed dramatically, thick
mucus & such, not draining properly. My main question is when i go to bed I must
have my head elevated. if not elevated I seem to wake up with bad/painful sinuses & usually
a bad headache. i guess because their not draining during the night & get backed up.  
i have taken OTC sinus meds before going to bed, & that has helped, but dont want
to do that on a long term basis. my EMT is no help at all, his attitude is.. its a side
affect from the radiation, deal with it  :0( .
does anyone have any helpful ideas in trying to advoid the awful morning sinus headache?
