Stress Headaches

I'm in a very stressful situation as a senior caretaker. I currently live with my mother who is 85 years of age. She's loving but very difficult and controling. She is unable to care for herself but refuses to go to an assisted living faculity which would be idea. This has been going on for several years. The stress has been mounting and I have internalized all of my pain and frustration. As a result, I have pressure in the back and top of my head. Lately, the pain has been happening daily and I am also experiencing dizziness and lack of concentration. Needless to say, I'm very afraid. Could this be something serious? What can I do?

Hi,

Thanks for writing in.
As of now it does not sound serious; however it would be a good idea to get a complete physical done including BP just to make sure everything is fine. Stress can result in serious illnesses so please try and not to get stressed. Make sure you eat healthy and exercise regularly and maintain your fluid intake.
It would also be a good idea if someone else takes care of your mother for sometime, while you can maybe go on a vacation. It will be a good break for you.
You can also take OTC multivitamin supplement. Take care!
