Struggling to find relief.

Struggling to find relief.

For a little over 2 years now I have dealt with severe and long lasting pains in my right occipital region. At times they can come around the right side of my head and near my temple, but the main source of pain is the right side in the back of my head/neck. Pressure on the mastoid process and temple seem to help. Most of the time lying flat also lessens the pain but when I go from laying/sitting to a standing position, the pain gets very intense for around 5-10 seconds. It seems to get worse with any movement of my neck, especially if I look to my right. Today will be my fourth day straight of dealing with this. As of late it has become hard for me to even sit for an extended period without pain. I work as a sleep technologist, so I sit at a computer for 8-9 hours a night. My doctor diagnosed them as migraines, but I am having trouble finding any sort of relief. I tried Relpax and Topamax in the past and neither worked for me. I recently was prescribed Midrin (which I believe has been discontinued now) and it seemed to help very little, but still it was an improvement. So now I am out of the Midrin and the pain is becoming maddening. Most days I'm in and out of a hot shower, using hot packs, using cold packs, laying down repeatedly and doing all sorts of goofy stretches in attempt to find a trick. It's really destroying the things I want to do with my days. I have no idea what triggers them but there are several possibilities. I sit at a computer a lot, so it could be a posture issue or staring at monitors. I've also thought that it could be weather changes that effect it. Seeing a chiropractor is my next step of action once I get a day off. Any help or suggestions on therapy or possible triggers would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I forgot to add, 3-4 months ago I went to the ER for a combination of the headache, excessive sweating and light headedness. There I had an MRI of my head and neck which showed everything to be normal. All they could figure out was that I was dehydrated, I received 3 bags of fluids and was released.
