Suffering from migraines from a Lupron injection given 5 months ago.

by FrannieBananie24, Mar 09, 2009 11:33AM
I was given a Lupron 11.25 mg injection on November 6th 2008 for my endometriosis condition, the day after I got the I started suffering from terrible migraines. Almost everyday since then I have had these migraines. I am now seeing a Neurologist. I have tried numerous medications. (Amerge, Imitrex, Toradol,  Fioricet, Maxalt,  Indocin, Lithium, Imitrex Injections, Vicodin, Perocet.. I beleive there is a few others I just can't think of them at this time)
I am now being treated with Zonegran, Depakote. The Zonegran was working for a little while but I have seemed to reach a plateau. I have not been migraine free at all since November, but there have been times where my migraines have been less painful. I work for a health insurance company and I am on the computer for 8 hours a day. I have been unalbe to work a full time scheule for the past 3 months due to my migraines. I have also lost 15 pounds in the past 4 weeks I believe it is from the Zonegran causing me to lose my appetite. My neurologist just prescribed my Oxycontin 10mg which make me incredibly sick. He told me that they will only be masking the symptoms but this way I can get some type of relief so I can function. I am in agony and I am tired of suffering. I have been told that I should go to a Migraine Pain Clinic in the Boston area as well. I hope this Lupron didn't permantly damage my body and I hope that I won't be suffering from these migraines forever. I hope someday they will go away. The lupron is supposed to last 3 months, it has been 5 months since I got my injection and it seems that my migraines have been progressivly getting worse over the past month. Any suggestions??

Hi,

I would suggest you to discuss with your doctor if Topamax will be suitable for you. Topamax has proved to be very effective for migraine prophylaxis. Recent studies have shown that Topamax is very effective for reducing the frequency and severity of migraines.
