Temporal arteritis

Temporal arteritis

I am a migraine sufferer, I am on Topamax daily.  As well as Maxalt as needed, \Midrin and Fioricet as needed.  I was seen at the GP today for an extremely sharp and almost dibilitating pain in my right temple.  He noticed that there was very slight swelling at that location.  He mentioned Temporal Arteritis.  He didn't really go into any detail about this .  I also had a numbnee on the left side of my head right before arriving at his office.  He did routine Neuro exam and said he found nothing unusual in the exam.  Could you please let me know if I should push the issue with my Neurologist?

Thanks,
Gayle Watson

Hello   gaylewatson,

Temporal arteritis, is a vasculitis that mainly affects medium-sized vessels and occasionally also involves larger-caliber vessels .Headache,is  the most universal symptom of temporal arteritis, tends to be unilateral, classically concentrating in the temporal region.
Here ,inflammation often strikes the temporal artery, causing temporal-located headaches.
.You should consult your physician and get the evaluation done.
