The 11 day headache

by julianne07, Aug 29, 2008 09:40AM
I have head a headache for 11 days now, it is at the very top/back of my head. ?I have tried advil, tylenol migrane, bayer asprin and tylenol with codene to rid myself of this ache, but they only dull the pain a bit. My head hurts all day everyday, they get a little worse in the evening and in sometimes in the morning. No change in my diet and it is not PMS related.I also went for a massage of my head and neck and and tried ice packs that also didnt help...not too sure what to do next.

The headache stays at the top/back of my head and does not migrate anywhere else.

Hi,

How are you?
A persistent headache requires further evaluation. Some of the causes can be high BP, sinusitis, poor eyesight, sinusitis and headache due to allergies.
Please get your BP checked and eye sight tested. Also make sure that you sleep for at least 8 hrs in the night, eat regularly, exercise daily and maintain hydration. See if these lifestyle changes help you.
Do keep us posted!

Hi there, I had my eyesight checked not long ago and it was perfect. My blood pressure is within a normal range: 110/72. I also drink quite a bit of water, 8 glasses a day or more. I sleep about 10 hours a night, sometimes more...the allergies though, I am susspicious of my detergent...we will see when I make the change.

Thank you!

Hi,

Thanks for writing in.
I would suggest you to get yourself evaluated by a neurologist, since this headache seems to be intractable.
Topamax is usually used to break the cycle of headache. This headache most likely is a chronic daily headache which can be a chronic migraine, chronic tension type headache and hemicrania continua. I would suggest you to undergo a complete neurological examination at your earliest.

Take care!
