Topamax side effects

I don't know if anybody else is having these type of problems with Topamax. I was put on 50mg 2 weeks ago for migraines and since then I am having some died effects that I see are common tingling in my face hands and feet, memory loss, inability to sleep. But I'm also having some other concerning problems worsening headaches, neck pain and back pain and dizziness and nausea. Are any of these symptoms going to go away or has anyone else experienced these not as common problems? Please help. Thank you.

Some of the symptoms you describe are categorized as serious in the literature on this drug, so I would talk to your doctor ASAP.

Most of the side effects are dose related.  Here is more information about the medication:  http://www.drugs.com/topamax.html . Sometimes, dividing the dose into several doses throughout the day may help.  Also taking the smallest dose you can take is best to avoid the side effects.  Initially, many people have side effects, but after your body gets used to the med. it goes away (usually after a week or 2).  However the biggest complaint with most is fatigue, word-finding, memory loss (usually on higher doses), insomnia (esp. when taking a higher dose at night).  The tingling usually goes away.

If you find that after giving it a chance and perhaps changing your dosing around you still have problems, discuss it with your doctor for an alternative medication.

This has been very helpful, as I recently upped my dose from 25 to 50mg and have been having insomnia. I am going down to 25 and am trying to take it earlier in the evening. I would like to give it a few months to see if it really reduces my number of headaches per month, but if it doesn't it doesn't seem worth the side effects.

I use to take topamax. I recently just move to las vegas from north carolina. When i move her the doctor told me that this meds. Help retrigger migrianes for some ppl. Me and my husband both experience this when we found this out we stop. Our migrianes are where not that bad for awhile. I did not like the side effects .
