I don't what type of headache this is? I have pain all through the back of my head 24/7, but I have sharp pains through the left side of my heart by my temple and towards the back of my head. The sharp pains last about 30 seconds, sometimes more. After a while I get a earache in my left ear. I tried tylenol it doesn't work. The only thing that work is Excedrin PM and it only works to go to sleep not make the pain go away. I am 17 and really hate going to the doctor because I already have a weak muscle around my heart and asthma, so i really like to prevent going if I can.

Hi,

You have mentioned of a weak muscle around your heart? Was a diagnosis made by your physician concerning this?

With all these symptoms that you are experiencing and a significant medical history of a heart problem and asthma, I suggest that it is very important to inform your parents and physician regarding this for proper management and further evaluation. Pain that may be caused by underlying structures within the chest may refer to the jaw, neck and even the side of the ear. These presentations vary widely , thus with any presentation of neck pain or headaches an underlying cause has to be ruled out before  benign forms of headaches are to be given as diagnosis.

Do seek consult immediately or at least inform your parents so they may assist you.

yes the doctors know about i have been playing club travel soccer for 8 years, and about 2 years ago i started passing out in the middle of the game. At first i thought it was my asthma, but then i realized i was able to breathe just fine and after a episode my heart felt like it was going to explode. So i starting seeing multiple doctors when they finally sent me to a heart specialist who said that it was the muscle around my heart. He said it was weak, but not worry about it too much just take tylenol three days after it began to hurt. He said it was becoming more common in young adults. It still hurts when i stress out or work out too much, but still nothing to worry about he said.
Also i have trained my asthma so much that is pretty much dormant, i haven't had any problems with it in at least 1 1/2 years.

Hi,

I still think it is best to have a complete work up done. A cardiac assessment may be able to rule out involvement of the heart and also a consult with an ear specialist may help rule out underlying ear or sinus disorders.I know this may sound tedious but this is to ascertain that those headaches and chest pains ( is this correct) are not due to any of these conditions which may need immediate attention and management.

Do keep us posted regarding your physician's advice.
