The symptoms of vision flolding and becoming blotchy could be due to ocular migraines. But since this was followed by a headache, retinal headaches should be ruled out. Consult an eye specialist regarding this. This can be dangerous if a retinal detachment is likely to happen.
The other serious thing could be a mini stroke or eye stroke due to temporary cut off of supply. This can cause vision to become blotchy if the optic nerve is involved.
It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Please consult an eye specialist ASAP or go to the ER. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
