Hi,
How are you? A bulging disk in the neck area may cause pain that radiates to the shoulders and arms as well. This may indicate that a nerve in the neck may be pinched or pushed upon. Cervicogenic migraines and nerve root impingement brought about by bulging disks are other differentials that needs to be ruled out by your doctor. Your blood pressure can be controlled with healthy lifestyle such as low salt diet and exercise. Regular BP monitoring is also recommended. Take care and regards.
I wanted to add that I did have slightly high blood pressure before, it seems normal now, maybe even a little on the low side sometimes. I was never on medication for it because the doctor wanted to wait and see and then I lost my insurance but mostly when I checked it, it was a little elevated for about 2 years. Not smart I know.
Thank you so much for your answer. I went to the doctor 2 days ago but she just looked at me and said that I have a headache and to take some asprin. I went to the ER last night but I had a cat scan not that long ago and they said if there was something there they would have seen it so they told me to take advil and rest. I am just worried since I have not had a headache like this before, I use to get headaches all the time but since I lost weight they have not bothered me so much, now all of a sudden I get this one. Its mostly on left but it has been moving a little pain there and other places also. Last night I kept getting a pain on the side of my ear a little above my ear bad pains every few seconds until I fell asleep. Its driving me crazy, my ears also keep ringing which is new for me as well. I have an appointment with a specialist tomm so I guess I will see what he says. Hopefully its nothing serious. I just got MRI results back from the doctor yesterday from c spine because I was having pains in my shoulder and arm and jaw, would boulging disk's cause headaches? I think C5 and C6? Thanks again for your help.
Hi,
How are you? Aneurysm may present with symptoms that may mimic frequent migraine or cluster headaches. However, rupture of blood vessel usually presents with sudden, unbearable headache, double vision, or rigid neck. This may be brought about by uncontrolled high blood pressure. While primary headaches like migraine can be managed with prescription medications and avoidance of triggers, it is best that you check with your doctor and to have imaging techniques done to rule out any underlying cause and to ease any anxiety as well. Take care and regards.
Wow I did not know a doctor would answer, I thought other members, THANK YOU SO MUCH:) My pain is not throbbing or stabbing, its like a mild ache it just feels strange, then ever now and then I will get a fast intense pain not sure how to describe. It hurts bad when I try to sleep but when I wake up its not there until about 20 minutes after I have been up. I have been searching and only scary things come up. Does it sound like I have something that is going to burst in my brain? Like warning headaches or something? Would the CT I had show something dangerous? Thank you again....
Hi, Thank you for your question. Generally, one sided throbbing (or sharp) headache & orbital pain (eye pain) with numbness symptoms could be suggestive of migraine. Other factors that may induce your migraine attack may be pills, stress or depression, bright lights, loud noise and traveling. The mainstay of the migraine treatment is always to identify the triggering factors and to avoid them. Triggering factors could be different foods such as cheese, chocolate, alcohol and even few fruits. I would suggest careful record of events that have proceeded with the attack and avoid those factors. In addition, try to rest in a dark & quiet room, meditate, have a balanced diet and avoid taking unnecessary drugs. Please consult a neurologist for a better insight of the situation. Hope it helps.
