Has any one had a bonespur grow back after removal?

Thank you for posting. Recurrence of spur depends on the associated conditions present, such as osteoarthritis. Further evaluation may need to be done to determine the best course of action. If there is swelling and pain in the joints, it is best that you have this checked for proper examiantion. Take care always.

Hi there,
Dr. Rowena Santos thank you for all of your out put on bone spurs, im a glad to say my bone spur is on the posterier part of my C-2 so its not giving me difficlty swallowing or breathing, but it is so large in size its touching the next facet joint with some nerves. I am scheduled to get it removed in the next to weeks due to the tension and the headaces that are reoccuring everyday.You recommended proper examiantion, what did you have in mind? I thought a CT-scan showed the best bone imagery, would they have to CT my whole spine to find out for sure? Would you recomend a bone density test? And for further examiantion should I stick with my ortho doc for that do you think? Any way thanks for all of you output sorry for all the similer post im a little impatient with this stuff.

How are you? If the bone spur is already big enough to touch other joints in the vertebrae, it may indeed cause symptoms such as headache. Prior to your surgery, clearance may be done and several tests may also be performed. You need also rule out osteoarthritis since this condition breaks down the cartilage in the joint, and the body attempts to repair the loss by creating new areas of bone or bone spurs along the edges of the existing bones. Discuss this with your ortho for proper evaluation. Take care and regards.
