hey all i have a question. last night i had some bitter sweet dark chocolate chips for the frist time in a long time since my chronic migraine situation and i got a headache during the early morning hours. Do u think the chocolate could have triggered it? any input would be great!

thanks alot! great answer. I am not sensitive to coffee but i had some chocolate chips (like a handfull of them) the other evening and got a  migraine during the night. I havent had chocolate in quite awhile and now realize it is a trigger for me. So at least now i know.
thanks again

Hello anthony, Yes. Chocolate has two ingrediants that may trigger migraines, caffeine and phenylethylamine. Some people get headaches when they eat chocolate but not when they drink caffeinated beverages and that is because you may only be sensitive to the phenylethylamine in the chocolate while others are sensitive to the caffeine some people are sensitive to both so that means if you have a history of headaches(migraines ) and you eat chocolate you will mostly get a headache again because chocolate constricts you blood vessels which causes head pain.
