had a sinus infection now stiff neck

Two weeks ago I have a severe sinus infection, the doctor prescribed some azithromycin, prednisone, and hydrocodone cough syrup, I only took the cough syrup twice, it was too strong and made me hallucinate. However, I now have a stiff neck that is extremely painful at times.  It wakes me up in the middle of the night and I can't continue to stay in bed. Yet, when I get up and sit in the chair I am exhausted.  The stiffness and pain is on the right side of my neck and head.  When I cough it hurts worse.  I thought it was a muscle and purchased some bengay; however that did no good.  I've tried a heating pad, and pain relievers, yet the pain does not slow down or stop.

My vote is to head for an emergency room for an evaluation. While the problem may be insignificant and self-limiting this presentation may also be associated with a life-threatening problem. You require an in-person evaluation by an M.D.
