headache for 5 years

hi. im 16 years old and ive been suffering from severe headaches for 5 years. They never seem to go away. No medication works at all (advil, Tylenol, asprin) nothing works. I went to my doctor and all she said was that they were tension headaches. Sure some of them might be but for 5 years? thats a little crazy. Sometimes they get so bad i get nautious and sick and throw up. Ive had to miss school a few days because they get so bad. I dont know if this is totally serious or just something little. i dont drink caffeine and im not in the sun alot. i read up on it and they all say the same thing. so should i be concerned and how do i make these horrible headaches go away?

i drink like 2 liters a day and i started doing that migrian tracker on here. yeah i think im starting to go nearsighted so yes i will definitely go get my eyes checked.

Thanks for writing back.

I would also suggest you to get your eyesight tested and your BP checked. It will also help to maintain a headache diary to identify the trigger for these headaches. Make sure you eat on time and drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration.

they usaually start between my eyes and progress to behind my ears and the back of my head

Hi,

There is a possibility that these headaches are due to migraine. It would help to know if the headaches are one sided or not and what is the nature of these headaches.
Apart from caffeine and sun there are other triggers for migraine like artificial sweeteners like aspartame, MG, processed meats, cheese and chocolates.
I would suggest you to get yourself evaluated by a headache specialist. Also magnesium supplements have been found to help in reducing the frequency of chronic headaches.
