headache+ nausea-please help

I am new to this forum. i have started to have pain in the soft area in the back of my left ear (I dont know if there is specific term for that area). it is right where the bone ends and my nech strats. At first I thought it is due to my sleeping position. now, it is getting worse, and sometimes i feel like when i push the soft area, I get nausea.has any one experienced this or knows what could be the reason. I fear that it might be due to tumor or something. what kind of specialist should I even see for this?
thanks

Hi Lily,

I get this a lot!  I know exactly where you are talking about and yes pushing on it will give me nausea and make the headache worse.  My daughter's will stiffen up and really hurt her.  I extended it too far and heard it pop.  It hurt for days.  My neurologist let me get a cervical MRI because I hadn't had one in years and I thought I had to have herniated a full cervical disc.  I was positive it was so bad.  My cervical discs were beautiful.  I mean they could have been in a text book.  It has to be muscle.  I put heat on it on a regular basis and of course NSAIDS like Advil or Ketoprofen. (Make sure you don't have stomach problems.)  Of course, this doesn't rule out the ENT - but you probably know if you have a sore throat or ear ache.  My daughter has muscles in her neck that actually form painful knots.  She is stressed out with exams right now.  Hope this helps - sorry mine and her take forever to heal.  Take Care

Hi,
Do you have any throat infection or ear infection? This could be a muscle pull in the neck region. Try some hot compressus and apply some local diclofenac gel. See if that helps or consult your physician.

Hi,

Since when do you have this pain? Does this pain radiate or is at one place?
It simply could be a neck sprain....you can take OTC pain medication and get a neck massage. If this does not help i suggest you to first see your physician and undergo complete physical examination.
