headaches and vision loss

For about nine years now,off and on, I have experienced this:  I will lose the ability to focus on any one thing with my eyes.  Like if someone has flashed a camera at me.  Then I lose complete perifial view in my left eye.  After about 30 minutes my full eyesight is returned but then I have a severe headache on the right side of my head which lasts about two hours.  After the headache starts I become extremely fatigued and have to lay down.  Should I be concerned since it only happens around once a month?  Any ideas on causes?

Pretty much classical of migraine with visual aura (some times called the fortification spectra). You can take symptomatic treatment such as tylenol or other NSAIDS for pain (which will be needed in most cases). If the frequency is too much for comfort, there are drugs to prevent an attack.  Kindly see a physician for an evaluation and appropriate treatment.

you are suffering from migraine with visual aura. Migraine attacks have no fixed pattern, they can be once a month or many times in a month. OTC painkillers should help. Also if possible try to identify the migraine trigger.
