Hi,
A sharp stabbing pain suggests more of a nerve related or musculoskeletal problem rather than an underlying bleed brought about by a stroke.I hope this makes you feel a bit better. However, I will always suggest that for headaches a baseline consult with a neurologist will always be beneficial.
Conditions to cosider here are occipital neuralgia which has been associated with previous head trauma.Have you had previous injuries to the head or neck before? A cervicogenic headache secondary to a spine disorder may also be considered.Tension headaches may also involve tightening of the neck and shoulders.
An evaluation of the cervical spine may be necessary to rule out nerve impingement due to a spine problem.A complete neurological examination will also help.
Do you have any other associaed symptoms like blurring of vision, numbness or slurring of speech?
Do keep us posted with your answers.
hI, relax, it has nothing to do with stroke. What you are experiencing is probably tension headache or pain of cervical spondylosis. Try pain killers, caffeine along with sedative for symptomatic relief.
Please consult doctor or get the X ray cervical spine done to rule out cervical pathology. Avoid thick pillows too and also get your blood pressure checked.
