i get a headache followed by visual disturbance

i get a headache on one side .front ... followed by a visual disturbance that looks like a wake (of a boat going through water) that starts  on one side of my eye and goes across my field of vision only last seconds . it has occurred  5 times in the last two months.      any ideas

It could be a migraine. A one sided headache with visual disturbance can be a migraine headache + migraine aura. But, any sort of headache with a visual disturbance should get medical attention as it could be serious. You should see a doctor about this. Book an appointment with your family doctor. Your family doctor may then refer you to a neurologist if it is a migraine headache or they may just prescribe you migraine medication on their own as a family doctor has the ability to do this. If it is not a migraine headache, then your family doctor may refer you to a neurologist for further testing or they may refer you to an eye doctor if they think it has something to do with your eye sight.
