imitrex injections?

what is the difference between the imitrex injections and pills? Which is more effective and prescribed more?

Hi,

Thanks for writing in.
Both Imitrex injection and pills contain the same medication Sumatriptan.
However an injection will provide quick relief from migraine pain as it reaches faster into the blood stream as compared to pills. Imitrex injection provides relief in about 10 minutes. Injections are usually prescribed in people who want quick relief from rapid onset migraine or suffer from morning migraines.

If you are vomiting and so cannot keep a pill down, the injection is the answer. Been there, been there a lot.
