Hi,
I agree with your doctor that menopause an even perimenopause ( time leading to menopause) may cause headache and other symptoms due to hormonal changes. And good thing about this is that it really goes away once the hormones stabilize. Just continue your medicine, drink plenty of water and stay healthy. Take care always and best regards.
I have not seen a neurologist yet...my dr.seems to think it is hormonal due to menapause...i stay away from triggers...wine,chocolate, do not skip meals, no avacados...ect. I saw dr tuesday because have had migraines every week 2 days lasting...
he just put me on lowest dose propranolol...preventive i guess...will keep you posted as to any news
he did say 80% of woman who develop migraines during menapause see them go away once cycles stop...so there is hope!
Hi,
How are you? It would really help to identify the triggers of your migraine headache. When you are exposed to these, your headaches may recur. There is a headache tracker here in Medhelp that may help. Identification of these triggers will help you avoid them. Ice packs and stronger medications may also be indicated. Check with your neurologist for proper evaluation. Take care and do keep us posted.
I don't know where you live, but my wife and I live in East Central PA and my wife has another migraine as well. It started early this morning. It probably will be another 3 day pain experience for her. She is healthy as well.
She has them atleast 4-5 times a month. Nausea is common for her and usually when she finally brings up, the migraine will begin wanning about 12 -18 hours later.
If you are not seeing a Neurologist, you should consider a quality headache center. If you are a working person, please consider protecting yourself financially and medically i.e. making sure you understand Family Leave etc. You can never predict when a migraine will come on - some people get aura's some don't. If you have any additional questions please post them here. Thank you
