mega cisterna magna

mega cisterna magna

my recent MRI of the brain shows an incidental finding of mega cisterna magna. Is this whats causing my headaches, ringging of my ears and stiff neck? And why do they always say " unlikely to be of clinical significance." when ive always complain of headahes? And besides the MCM i also have some cavernous malformation on the left portion of the brain. I really dont know anymore whats causing my headaches.

Hi,

The presence of a mega cisterna magna may be incidental in most cases.Incidental findings in adults are also rarely clinically signficant. Some studies may show that patients with a mega cisterna magna may present with some cognitive or memory deficits. In your case, has your physician discussed with you  the signficance of the cavernous malformation seen in your MRI?

Cavernous malformations require close radiologic evaluation. Where is the malformation located? Have you had any previous exposure to radiation prior to your current symptoms?

Cavernous malformations may be asymptomatic however they may cause minor bleeding or hemorrhages which when occurring repeatedly may present with mild neurologic deficits. This may be able to explain your symptoms.Any other findings in your MRI?

I suggest that you discuss this with your physician. You may need to be assessd along this line.
