Are you on meds for your migraines?  I was given meds that were to help me but didn't although some of my other family have had help with the meds.  I use Excedrine Migraine now if it starts to come on and it usually helps but sometimes I just have to avoid wheat, noise, light and get lots of sleep in a dark room.  I have times that I will end up throwing up they get so bad and I just feel like my brain is going to explode.  I was told that if I get one that lasts more than 48 hrs they will do a brain scan to make sure it isn't something else but so far they leave within that 48 hr period of time.  I would recommend maybe going to the ER and describing the pain and telling them no pain meds are helping and see what they do.  My stepdad had pain come on like a migraine and it just kept getting worse and worse until they finally scanned him and discovered it was bleeding in the brain.

As a long term migraine sufferer, yes there is help.  The first course is generally a CT scan to make sure that there is no serious vascular issue such as aneurism (aneurysm), or a neck, sinus, or eye problem. Then there are a variety of meds that can help prevent and treat migraine headache.  The type of med is important because many pain meds will actually cause a rebound headache which creates a vicious cycle.  You need a neurologist who specializes in headache or a headache clinic.  You may have to travel a bit to find one unless you are lucky to have one in your area.

Hi,
How are you? You need to have this evaluated further by a neurologist for proper management. Imaging modalities such as CT scan is important to help with the diagnosis and to rule out secondary causes. There are a lot of medications available to help provide relief. Both abortive and preventive medicines help. It is also important to identify the possible triggers to prevent recurrences. A headache journal and the migraine tracker here in the forum may help. Hang on and do keep us posted.
