my 8 year old started with headache 4 days ago and vomited once two days ago but pain in front part of head is awful for him

My son came home from school on Thurs complaining of an awful headache with a low grade fever, he vomited about 4 hours later just once and continued with fever and headache  for the rest of that day. Now 4 days later fever is gone but headache still remains, very bad headache in front of the head and eyes hurt too during this time. Unbearable at times for him,. I have been putting cold clothes on his forehead and he has had motrin the last 2 days, yesterday and today every 7 hours with relief during this time but once it wears off he is screaming and moaning with the pain. Could this be flu or should I be concerned of something else? Thank you for your help.
