neck and head

by mom 44, Sep 30, 2007 10:29AM
I have been having neck pain and severe headackes for 2 years. I am seeing 3 doctors and no help. this is what i know, i have 2 bulged disc. in neck, c6 /c7  is bulged on the left side and c7 /t1 is bulged on both sides.  the pain is on right side, goes up my neck and into my head on right side, and down to my right shoulder, and between my spine and right shoulder blade. I have had 3 epidoral injections, with steroids. This has not helped. The pain is at the base of my scull on the right side close to the spine feels like being stabed with a hot ice pick, with shooting pain to the right eye and right timple, feels like being eletricuted. the pain between my spine and right shoulder blade is burning and trobbing.  The meds I am on is lyrica, hydrocodone, cymbalta, syntroid, imatrex and phenagin.
the pain I am in the more nausiated I get.
I don't know if this had any thing to to with my upper body problem, but I will add.  My lower back has problems to. Lower back pain, that goes down my right leg. I have lost 50% of the strength in my right leg.  I have 2 bulged disc and a ruptured disc. in my lumbar region. I have had it with all this pain.  does anyone have an answere.  I am seeing a neurologist, a pain doctor and a orthapedic.  sorry about spelling.  please help!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have you tried a chiropractor?  Mine has helped with some of my pain.

went to chiropractor for 1 and 1/2 years and he could not help me. He said I need a specialist.

You are probably suffering from multiple nerve trauma. A neurologist might be able to determine if you have compressed nerves (based on MRI with/without contrast, or CT scan). If there is compression, a neurosurgeon might be able to help. However, if your spine is in no condition for surgery, this option is probably out of the question (along with chiropractic manipulation).

Ask your doctor about adding Lyrica, Keppra, and/or Neurontin to you meds. Some combination of these meds is likely to reduce significantly the sharp pain attacks.
