Idk why but I also get this weird feeling like a numbness in my head and it goes through my body. I have been diagnosed with anxiety though I don't take the paxil because of the side effects. I don't have migraines either, but I noticed how my body get hot then cold at times. I have taken all types of test and blood work yet everything was normal. I want to take an MRI just to be safe, but I know my doctor is getting tires of me lol' I'm afraid bc this has never happened. Could it be my nervous system? Please help????

I have suffered from migraines of varied severity since 12. Only Over a yr ago I started having auras that lasted for weeks, pain so bad i had to go to the ER sometimes up to twice a week because even the ER pain shot cocktails give no relief!! The entire right side of my face, tongue, throat, shoulder and arm go completly  numb!  I have to look at it or touch it to confirm it's there. Sometimes it even extends into the right side of the back, hip and the leg. I am severely dizzy, fatigued, nauseous, light sensitive, have a headache of some degree every day. I have been through the ringer with tests, scans, bloodwork, GP's , Neurologists, Therapists, and next is a sleep study. EEG's are normal even though I think I am also having seizures, but they can't induce one, but I know I am having some kind of seizure!!
I haven't worked since Nov. 2008, and have no expected return to work date. At this rate it will be never.  I also suffer from many other difficult conditions. Please share your thoughts.

A few months ago I had what appeared to everyone to be a stroke, which was the third such incident.  I am only 40 years old and in otherwise great health.  This has gone on for about a year and half.  Each time I lose more and more use of my left side including my vision.  I felt like I was losing my mind since my MRI and CT scans were always normal.  The doctors continued to tell me they could be these complex migranes which I had such a hard time believing since I would lose my speech and vision.  I always thought of migranes as the I need to go to bed I have a headache sort of thing.   I am now on a drug called Topamax which has made all the difference in the world to me.  It doesn't come without some side effects which after the first couple of weeks go away but it gives you your life back.  You may want to ask your doctor if this is something that is an option for you.  Good luck and take care.

Hi,
There is a variety of migraine where there is temprory paralysis or muscle weakness of one side of the body, like the ones that your father had and these are often confused with stroke as they are very rare. Please do not worry too much about it and consult your neurologist for appropriate treatment. Hope you feel better soon.

Did your doctor say that these could be migraines?  and Have you seen a migraine specialist?  I know these symptoms can be really scary, but since your MRI, EEG, can back clear that is a good sign.  Did they do a MRA? You didn't mention if you doctor is a nuerologist.  If not, you may want to see one.  My migrianes give me siezure like symptoms without a headache (wierd huh) so, migraines can be very different for many people, like your dad. I didn't even know I had migraines until 4 weeks ago when I was admitted to the er for a possible stroke (apparently, I have had them for 7 years).  Enough about me,  I would suggest maybe you should follow up with your doctor and if you suspect migraines maybe see a specialist that deals with migraines.  Also, I eliminated all trigger foods that can cause migraines and sources that could trigger them.  For example, for me, flourescent lights is a big one.  If you are not sure if this a migraine or not I would get more testing done to rule out everything.  Let us know how you are doing Hang in there and good luck

Hi there, I too have had the same symptoms, my brain felt it was sinking, I lost the use of the whole of my right side and my speach was slurred I was admitted in April of this year with a possible stroke, which a CT scan and a lumber puncture comfirmed it wasnt. I was later told that it was a migrane and that it would settle within 24 hours. Well 7 months later and I still have pins and needles down the whole right side of my body, and like you my whole right side feels thicker, and I am light headed constantly. I have seen 3 neurologists, one said that I am still having a migrane, and the other 2 have said that it isnt a migrane and  there is no explernation for it. Which doesnt help at all. Also like you this is a very scary time, sorry I hvae no answer for you, but you are not alone.

Hi,
I would like to reassure you on the basis of a normal of MRI, EEG and other investigations. MRI is extremely sensitive to pick up any kind of stroke or other structural  disease of the nervous system. Please try to relax. You'd be fine. Nonetheless, continue to follow up with your treating physicians.
