pineal cyst with associated problems

by suzieq114, Oct 25, 2009 09:37AM
Approx. 6 months ago I went to the doctor b/c of the sudden and frequent bouts of headaches and disturbance of vision in the left eye. MRI & MR scan was done, which indicated a pineal cyst and a weakening blood vessle in the Circle of Willis. Opthomologist stated that my vision in the left eye has definately deteriorated and I will now have to wear glasses (vision was 20/20 before all of this). Went to Neurgologist and basically he told me I had Hemacrania Continua based on my MRI and no other dx testing.  Was prescribed Amitriplyne and Endomthecin? It has aided in lessening the headaches; however, additional symptoms have started approx. 2 weeks ago. Continued visual disturbances in the left eye, pressure only on the left side of head-- behind ear and short term memory loss. I cant explain it.  I have been scheduled for a Field Vision test and schedule to see my PCP.  No one seems to know what is going on and it is affecting my daily life. Work, children, home, etc.  I find that it is extremely difficult for me to concentrate as I used to (i am a professional in the legal field) and I also am getting confused.  Can someone please shed some light on my situation.

Hi,
How are you? The cause of Hemicrania continua is not known. This condition is a rare form of chronic headache that presents with continuous pain on one side of the face that varies in severity. It is more common in women than in men. Physical exertion and alcohol use may increase the severity of headache pain in some patients.A non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, Indomethacin, usually provides rapid relief from symptoms. Complete to near-complete relief of symptoms may be observed with medication. You may benefit more from further evaluation to determine the underlying cause.

Take care and do keep us posted with your test results.

Thank you. I went for my Field Vision and did not do so well specifically with my left eye.  It just so happens this is the same side that I have been having trouble with. I do not drink and am tired, feeling of no energy. So I would have to say I do not have much physical exertion. I guess i would need to know where I should go from here, besides my PCP who I am scheduled to see tomorrow.

Hi,
How are you? Were you able to see your doctor? I know this is affecting your home, children and work. And it may also be frustrating in trying to search for the answers. But continue to hold on and everything will turn out fine. Take care always and keep us posted.
