my son was diagnosed with a 12mm pineal cyst he is 10 years old. Can anyone help me with his diagnosis. Diagnosis states from mri results some mass effect on the roof of cereberal aqueduct. Not sure what this means. I need answers a week is a long time for us to see a neurosurgeon.

Hi,
How is your son? Are there other symptoms present? As mentioned from the other post, a pineal cyst is a fluid-filled growth inside the pineal gland. This is usually benign in nature and asymptomatic. However, a cyst may enlarge and press on surrounding structures causing symptoms such as headaches and blurred vision. This  can be removed through surgery. Do keep us posted with your neurosurgeon consult. Take care always.
