please help my son

by BLONDY435, Oct 24, 2007 04:03PM
My son is almost 11 years old. He is a normal active young man. Awhile back he started to haveing hand tremors at random times for no reason but they were very mild. I was not very concerned but recently he has started getting them more often usually followed by a headache. His eyes become blood shot and the tremors are usually stronger on his right side. They happen in his hands and legs and they last for about 15 mins. He seems to be slightly disoriented when they first start.  He will go for a week and not have any problems then the following week he will have them two and three times a day. They happen at different times of the day but mostly around 11:00 am and at night. THe doctor could not see anything unusally at our visit but  has set us up an appt. with a Neuro. Dr but they can not seem him for four months. My kids are my life and I am very worried about what could be going on. He is the class president of his school and a wonderful joy. If you have any ideas or know any children with the same problems please let me know.
Thank You for your help and time. May God bless you and keep you!

Hi,
What you describe could be focal seizures that are tremors in one or isolated body parts followed by headache. You definitely need a neurologist opinion before you can start your son on nay medication. You would also need to get an EEG done on the advice of your neurologist to see for areas of seizure activity in the brain. You should till then try some OTC painkillers for the headache. Also consult with the neurologist if thinks he needs to get some scans done. Also get the vision of your son checked to rule out any eye sight problems. Goodluck.
