pressure in head and headache

by luv2teachspeech, Aug 27, 2009 04:21PM
I have been suffering from chronic headache for 3 months. The headache was initially subtle and did not significantly interfere with my activities of daily living. The headache started on my forehead, and I woke up feeling like my head was "swimmy." Went to Dr. and was initially diagnosed with sinus infection, even though I did not have any mucous, etc., just pain in my head and face. Headache persisted and no relief from antibiotics and or OTC pain killers. Headache resulted in 2 ER visits. Had normal CAT scan and normal blood work, including sugars, thryoid, etc. .Referred to neurologist approx month and half after onset. She gave diagnosis of migraines. Migraine medicine helped, and headaches seemed like typical migraine pain, except did not have typical "aura" other than nausea. Headache always came back within a day or two of taking migraine medicine, even after a strong 3 day Relpax regimen. Have intermitantly had symptom of tingling in body. Neuro. stated this was probably due to all of the migraine medicine. Neurolog. thought that the migraines might have been brought on by Lexapro, which I started *10mg in May. Have recently switched back from Lexapro to Celexa, which I was formerly on for 9 years. Neuro. started me on low dose of Noritripyline. Headache seemed to change from taking this and headache seemed to "set in" deeper and started feeling pressure in head. Told neuro. about this and she said to discontinue the noritrip. Haven't taken noritriptyline for 4 days and head still feels very bad. Now head feels extremely tight and very strange. Feels like pressure bearing down on forehead and all over head. Head is sensitive to the touch. Can feel rushing feeling when I hold head down. Felt migraine symptoms last night so took migraine pill. Migraine helped the pain but not the head pressure. I have also been having difficulty with my vision. Vision is hazy, like I need rewetting drops. Went to eye dr., she says vision is fine and to use rewetting drops. Drops do not seem to be helping and vision is better in the light and outside. Neuro wants me to start on a round of steroids this weekend to help my head. I have also been nauseous on and off and had diahrrhea almost every day. Has anyone else had any of these crazy symptoms? I have never dealt with anything this bad...I was perfectly healthy before these headaches set in. And now I am wondering if this horrible pressure feeling will ever go away.... Please let me know if you have any idea what this could be and if you know what could make it better. I am literally praying for some kind of cure. I have already discussed it being MS, or intracranial pressure, and Neuro says she already checked me for that, and dosen't think is MS. Have just had more blood work done, and requested test for Lyme.  I need to get better so that I can work and have my life back! I am trying hard not to worry that it is something horrific but it is getting hard when the symptoms have lasted this long. Thanks anyone for your help and for your response.
