Hi,
Your condition involves a one sided headache and aside from the problem with eye opening there are no mention of other neurologic deficits ( numbness, stiffness, dimming or doubling of vision, slurring of speech). At this point, an MRI with contrast may not really show something.
A consult with your neurologist for a complete neurological examination will help exclude other deficits if present. This will influence the next step for management.
You have been with headaches for 4 years. Episodic migraines may transform into chronic daily headaches. Occipital neuralgia and trigeminal neuralgia may be considered. However, the process of migraine is really complex and some intervention involving the occipital nerve and trigeminal nerve seems to have been associated with migraine relief.
Have your headache classified by your physician and since your headaches have been occuring more frequently prophylactic therapy may help.
Keep in touch ok. I hope this helps.
Not all migraines include a headache. My migraine equivalents begin with my right eye slamming shut and I can only open it back up if I put my head upside down(lower than my heart). I think that it must have something to do with the blood flow to the brain. I also have neck pain and fainting which sometimes accompanies the eye shutting. While I usually have migraines that do not include a headache lately they do include the headache! Migraines are just so complicated and sometimes the craziest things can help! Good luck. Cowser
From time to time, sometimes it is very slight, and other times it is more painfull. It doesn't have the feeling of a hangover type headache.
Just on the Right Side,
No jaw or neck pain.
eyes do not tear, no redness, and No nasal discharge.
No injuries to head
My first Dr. that I went to, started me on Topamax, but I couldn't continue taking it. alot of side effects bothered me.
Should I have a MRI with contrast ran?
thanks for responding.

Hi,
This headache has been present for the last 4 years.
Has this in any way increased in severity?
Does this affect only one side of the head?
Is there associated jaw or neck pain?
Is this associated with eye tearing, eye redness, nasal discharge?
Any previous injury to the head?
Have you taken any medications for your condition?
Pls keep us posted with your answers.
